Traditionally dentistry has not been a particularly eco-friendly endeavour – plastic waste and single use products have meant a lot of waste goes directly to landfill. At McMahons Point Dental we’ve strived to be as eco-friendly as possible and have chosen to:
- Avoid the use of plastic wherever possible, and use compostable products where available.
- Provide free bamboo toothbrushes and silk (plastic free) floss to all patients.
- Use energy efficient products wherever possible and turn off electrical devices when not in use.
- We compost all compostable waste.
- Enrol in recycling programs that allow us and our patients to return their dental hygiene products to be processed responsibly.
TerraCycle & The Colgate Oral Care Brigade
The McMahons Point Dental team are doing everything we can for the environment. We are constantly looking at ways to minimise our waste and reduce our electricity and water usage.
Now, McMahons Point Dental has teamed up with TerraCycle to recycle even more! We are a collection point for oral health waste. We accept all brands of toothpaste tubes and boxes, toothbrushes (manual and electrical, including their charging bases) and their boxes and dental floss packaging.
Do your bit for the environment and save up your oral health waste. Bring it in to us and we will send it on to TerraCycle who will up-cycle it to make pencil cases, watering cans and other useful products.
We also participate in the north Sydney Council’s ‘Better Business Partnership’ for sustainable businesses and have so far collected all but one badge for sustainability and community support.
