FAQs
How Often Should You Go To The Dentist?
For most people, the answer is six months. If you have very good teeth and take care of them well, you may only need to come in every 9-12 months. For some people, such as those with gum disease or limited dexterity, the period may be much shorter; as often as every three months.
Should I Floss At Night Or Morning?
It is better to floss at night so plaque and food debris isn’t sitting stagnant on your teeth and gums all night. However if you find it easier to floss in the morning, then continue to do so. The most important thing is that you floss at least once a day.
How Often Should You Brush Your Teeth?
For most people, the answer is twice a day. You should use an electric toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. You can brush more often if you like, but you have to be careful not to brush too hard and wear away your gums and enamel.
Can’t I just whiten my teeth with toothpaste?
No. Whitening toothpaste is abrasive and damages your teeth. With prolonged use, it can even make your teeth look darker. Professional teeth whitening is the safest and most effective method.
Is coffee bad for your teeth?
Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it makes you urinate more. This reduces the amount of water in your body, including your saliva, so that it can’t wash away the food and plaque on your teeth. You are more likely to get gum disease and tooth decay. However, drinking up to 3-4 serves of tea or coffee per day should be safe as long as you rinse well with water after.
Should I rinse with water after brushing?
No, this washes away the fluoride in the toothpaste, which is important for preventing tooth decay.
